A) ABOUT HORSES:

 1. What are the the 5 most common pathologies of horses? Mention them and give a little description too.

1) Tetanus: Is a bacteria that enters the body at the sight of a wound or the umbilical cord stump in a foal. Its symptoms are early signs of colic and stiffness. Horses will develop spasms in the jaw, neck, hind legs and muscles around the wound.  

2)  West Nile Virus(WNV):  is a mosquito-borne virus that causes encephalitis and/or meningitis. Typical signs include muscle trembling, skin twitching, ataxia that appears suddenly.

3) Rabies: Is transmitted through a bite from an infected animal. It is a highly fatal infection of the central nervous system. Its symptoms include: increased saliva, excitability, disorientation and running blindly.

4) Navicular disease: a chronic degenerative condition is a cause of lameness. Confirmed by hoof  X-rays, first signs are stumbling and standing with pressure off the heel.

5) COPD, or Allergic Lung Desease: is very similar to asthma in humans. If left untreated, they lungs may be permanently damaged, resulting in "heaves".

I found this website and I liked it because it teachs about sheep for example what is the difference between sheep and goats, shows their products (lambs, milk... I don't like this part), how they are raised. I like very much read about how do dogs help shepherds take care of sheep and how do livestock guardian dogs help protect sheep from predators. I like know what diseases can I (you) get from sheep too. I like the website because uses simple language and pictures to illustrate all the topics.

A Country I would like to visit

          I remember that since I was 14 years old I want to visit Australia because my godparents live there for many years and since the last time that they came to Chile, they  invited me to go to Australia to study even if I want.

        What I know is Australia is located on the continent Oceania, I also know that this country has a tropical climate (sun can be unbearably  and  suddenly it starts to rain with thunderstorms included) and within the fauna of this country stand out marsupials and monotremes in addition has an extraordinary abundance of poisonous animals.

         What I would more like to do in Australia would be know its flora and fauna in detail, since I was a child I love the koalas and kangaroos so I wish I could be very close and can appreciate them... I think it would be an unforgettable moment for me. 

I would want to visit all its beaches too, because I love the sea... it relaxes me. 

          I would like to live in Australia with my godparents and work there in the area of conservation of their wildlife to protect principally kangaroos and koalas, because apart from that I love them, I think they are characteristic of Australia, at least I associate Australia directly to the kangaroos and koalas.

   Apart from showing two animals that I like, I like this photo because it make me remember how beautiful and perfect is the nature... two animals of different species interacting, sharing maybe acquainting. I love besides that  the dog is giving a kiss to the goat!

     I like this photo because I love the monkeys!!! My dream is have one of them... I like specially the marmoset monkey <3

    Though his face  do not like me much because seems scared, the monkey of this image is so tiny! Besides is very tender and he looks like a teddy :3

  This video shows the more interesting facts about meerkats, it show for example that the social groups of meerkats can be compounds by 5 or 50 members and  the most interesting fact is that they like to eat scorpions (the video shows how they do)

  In this video we can see the things that the stoats make to hunting their favorite food: the rabbits. The stoats are capable of make very fast movements, spinning, jumping and twisting also for hold the attention of the rabbits and for  catch them after.

      I recommend visit Animals -> Animal Conservation because in this space show Projects and Initiatives for the animal conservation. 
     On the site there are videos explanatory and informative of these projects that show what it is, how you can help, estimations, etc.
      Also publishes news about animal conservation.

A picture I like

     I don't remember who took this picture exactly...  maybe my mom.

     In this photography I was with my father walking in the centre of Santiago and  probably a saturday's day because we gone out all the weekends.

     If I remember correctly this day we go to the Zoo.

     I believe this photography was taken about... 15 or 16 years ago when I was 2 or 3 years old. Perhaps from 1996

     I like and more than like I love this picture because I was with my dad and my mom (although she don't appear in the photography). We gone out together all the saturdays after my father turn off his work... I remember that we gone to the cinema, zoo, parks and sometimes we gone out with my two brothers too (I have one VHS where we were together in Parque O'Higgins) I like this picture also because my mom made the dress that I have on. (Until now I have it!! :3).

1. Fatal Attractions: I choose this program because caused me curiosity to see how some people can risk their lives with dangerous animals. It is so crazy...
2. Monsters Inside Me: I would see this program because I think that humans fall prey to parasites is something real so when I work as a Veterinarian I must know about this zoonotic deseases.
3. Bad Dog!: I choose this program because my dog is veeeery naughty and she tired me everyday since I get home. And I want to know how I can change her behavior.

What's my opinion about...

• What is your opinion about the Chilean politicians?

About these persons I think that they have salaries  millionaires and and  never do well their job (which is really important) because they don't put in the people's behalf. Also, I think people are never 100% agree with something because exists diversity and free expression also.

•  What is your opinion about killing stray dogs?

I think it is  very unfair decision because If the irresponsible people wouldn't exist either would exist stray dogs. I think the people are the real problem... at least their form to thinking.

• What is your opinion about legalizing marijuana?

I think that this is the best idea in the world because although the marijuana is illegal a lot of people consume it. And I think it helps to recover some illnesses (ailments) (I say that by close experience)

• What is your opinion about fortune telling? 

About this I believe and think: "The fate shuffle the cards but we play it (the cards)".
I think that... ourselves construct our lifes... I really  believe in the Law of Attraction :)

• What is your opinion about owning an exotic pet? 

I think all the animals should live free  in the nature! None  as a pet.

Just as we live in our homes they also have a great home and perfect otherwise. Except for dogs and cats that have been domesticated for several years I think it would be more harm than good for them.

Why do I want to be a vet? =)

           

          When I was eight years old I remember that I wanted to be a teacher of Language, but  two years later I wanted to be a pediatrist

           At secondary school I was determined to get into the PDI... :O           

         I didn't get other career as option because in my last year at school I opted for study veterinary medicine because I discovered that all life I had loved animals, they had been very important to me so I wanted to learn more about them and  to give them all my love and all the help that they need at once.

        Until now I've loved my career!! I believe that the schedules are exhausting but the career itself is spectacular <3

        As also I liked for a time the idea to get into the PDI I think I'll come to be a MVZ (Veterinarian Zootecnist) doing investigations about humans and animals deaths too. 

           But  I want to have a veterinary clinic too because the dogs and cats are my life.

My favorite piece of technology?

First of all I must say that I am not a fanatic person for technology objects (I prefer and love the nature life :B)... But if I have to choose one of them I choose my cell phone.
     I got it (my BackBerry phone) 6 months ago approximately.
     I use it usually to call my friends and family, I use the whatsApp application constantly and finally  I use it as my alarm everyday sadly... =(
    Unfortunately I have to use my BlackBerry everyday (because is my unique alarm)
     I like my cell phone mostly because it allow keep me communicate with my best friends when I can’t see them.
     Without my BlackBerry phone I think (and I am secure to this) that my life would be the same and even better!!  because I would have less leisure time... My unique problem would be stay sleeping and arrive even more later to university... :P

   

 

Slayer... The band that I like

       I like listening to rock and metal. One of the metal bands that I like is Slayer... is my favorite really :D

     Slayer is an American thrash metal band formed in 1981 by guitarists Jeff Hanneman and Kerry King in Huntington Park, California. Later it was integrated the bassist and vocalist Tom Araya of Chilean origin and drummer Dave Lombardo.

     I like this band because the vocalist and bassist is Chilean, because I like the sound and rhythm of guitars too and I think they have good lyrics though often they have been labeled as satanic or of supporting Nazism.

     My favorite song is Black Magic of the disc Show No Mercy released in December 1983. 

I like this song not for the lyric ... I like the rhythm of the electric guitar!

Who am I...?

My name is Daniela Elizabeth Aguilera Aravena.
I was born on march 4th, 1994 in Santiago, Chile. 
Today I have 18 years old.
At elementary school I studied at Colegio Nuestra Señora de Lourdes located in Quinta Normal and later I completed high school  at Liceo 1, de niñas, Javiera Carrera located in Santiago Centro.
This year I started to study Veterinary Medicine at Universidad de Chile.
At the present I only live with my mom Anny and my loved pet Monachita La Rabiosa Pinky (a very strange dog) but I have 2 eldest brothers too
I am fanatic for the music, specially rock and metal so in my free time I play the electric guitar. I like to walk with my "dog daughter" :) We go to parks, hills, to natural places really.
